To our customers, friends, and neighbors, we have some exciting news! In order to grow our G.O.A.T. cheese enterprise to a profitable scale while at the same time maintaining the artisanal integrity that makes our cheeses so incredible, Miracle Springs Farm recently sold G.O.A.T. to Westmeadow Farm (WMF) and Westmeadow Creamery (www.westmeadowfarm.com). Going forward, West Meadow Creamery will produce the seven G.O.A.T. cheeses we all love, and one day they will even make our Herron Blue!
Michael Winks transitioned seamlessly and is now at Sales@westmeadowfarm.com and will continue to manage sales and operations.
TO OUR RETAIL CUSTOMERS AND NEIGHBORS While Westmeadow Farm is setting up online ordering for retail customers, if you want to order G.O.A.T. cheeses, please email Michael at Sales@westmeadowfarm.com or call Lily or Anna at 518-921-6332. If you are in a hurry and can’t reach them, call us here at 518-851-2500. We are all in this together! Our 218 goats have relocated to Westmeadow Farm in Canajoharie, NY and are sharing the farm with a resident herd of goats and 150 Jersey cows.
Westmeadow Farm shares our commitment to delivering fantastic food, community education and uncompromising treatment of their animals, plants and soil. They provide fresh single source milk direct to their Creamery in Johnstown NY, to make cheese, yogurt, drinkable yogurt and butter. Ice Cream is on the horizon!
Their cheese production began in the Palatine creamery in Nelliston, NY but relocated in December 2019. They produce a range of Jersey Cream, Palatine Cheddar and Curd and are introducing a new goat cheese made to the original Palatine Cheddar recipe with a new range of flavors selected to compliment the use of goat milk rather than Jersey. All the cheddars are available in a wonderful selection of strengths and flavors to suit all pallets. They also offer a range of goat cheese including chèvre, made to a different recipe to the G.O.A.T chèvre and available in flavors that will complement our existing range. A hard-alpine goat cheese and a hard-alpine blend of Goat and Jersey milk.
You will find their products already available widely in many New York farmers stores, across the State and now because of the partnering with Miracle Springs Farm their products will be made available in the Hudson Valley and to all Miracle Springs Farm customers.
In time they expect to be able to offer tours of both the farm and creamery where you will be able to see the cheesemakers in action and marvel at the robotic milking machines at the farm
We are collectively working with Rory Chase of Chaseholm Farm, our former cheese maker to pass along knowledge from master cheesemaker to master cheesemaker. This ensures the quality of the product remains to the standards that you have come to expect from us and to ensure the customer experience is not affected. For the next few years, we will continue to work alongside Westmeadow Farm and Creamery to distribute G.O.A.T. cheeses and all the other WMF products in the Hudson Valley and in NYC. We are proud to have created G.O.A.T. and proud that we have found the perfect place for it to grow. We want all of you to know that the two farms will work closely together to transition operations as seamlessly as possible. We are not going anywhere! We appreciate very much your patronage and your loyalty, and we will continue to honor them both as we have done in the past. We will keep you informed and updated on developments as they unfold, and please let us know if you have questions or ideas.
WHATS NEXT FOR MIRACLE SPRINGS FARM?
Our nephew, Raine Owens and his farm partner Antonia Mompalao, are starting a small veggie and honey operation here at the farm this year. We are still set up nicely with a greenhouse, hives and a growing field, and the equipment they need. The rest of us planted apple trees this year and are focused on forest preservation and soil fertility for the moment. We still have our day jobs!
Thanks to all our customers, neighbors, partners and friends who saw us through this transition. Pivoting is sometimes necessary and always a challenge, especially in a pandemic.
